Happy Friday!! We've got lots of weekend projects on the to do list around here, and I can't wait to get started, but first let me share a love of mine...
I love me some craftsman elements. Chunky tapered columns, thick white trim, shingle siding, board and batten details, big covered porches, lots of windows, carriage doors... oooh. It makes my heart go pitter pat. :)
So naturally, I'm super excited for my cute friend Holly, who is building this beauty:
and an inside view:
Ahhh! I want it!!! My hubby told me I better stop looking at it. I probably love it too much! But I'm so excited for Holly!
We are pretty much kindred spirits, because I think she chose just about everything the same as I would have. I love this house and can't wait for my grand tour! They'll be finishing up and moving in withing weeks and I'm so thrilled for them!
Since we're talking about it, here's some more craftsman goodness to share today!
Does this elevation look slightly familiar??
Yep! I thought so too! (this house is one of my favorites from another exterior post from the past!)

I too am a craftsman junkie, especially after living in Oregon, they are everywhere. Looks like you and I share a similiar dream. Someday, maybe someday, a girl can dream can't she.
Oh how I love Craftsman style. It is my dream house. These pictures are giving me the warm and fuzzies :)
Mindy,
I was looking back at some of your older posts and I was wondering about when you redid your first kitchen and painted your cabinets white. Did you sand them or use a paint stripper? Or did go right to painting with white? I am inspired to go white after reading your post. Thanks!
Thanks, gals! Kim, I'll bet it was hard for you to leave Oregon, we've always thought we would like it there, and after our vacation last year I would love to live there! So someday let's move to Oregon and be neighbors with cute craftsman's! :)
Stacia- for the kitchen cabinets I did a very light sand with a fine grit sanding block. I talked to a certa-pro painter and that's what he told me to do, use an oil based paint, it will create a bond with the clear coat that's already on your cabinets, but if you use latex it's going to make a globby mess. There is a chemical you can buy at paint stores (sherwin williams carries it) that you mix into your paint and it reduces brush marks and stuff, I didn't use it that time and it looked okay. I will probably use it this time around though. I'll make a big how-to post after I get these ones going and let you know what works for me. Thanks for stopping by! Good luck with your project!
Thanks for the tips. I'll be looking for the post, but may get started on my own DIY soon enough. :)
Now that I am completely jealous! I, too, love craftsman style. Adore, covet, you name it. I loved looking at the different elevations.. now I know what I can dream of tonight.
I inherited my Mother's ranch and keep trying to figure out ways I can convert it to at least craftsmanish.
Thanks again!
Nice photos! I ran across your blog looking for craftsman inspiration to add to the house plans we're currently having drawn up. You must live somewhere near me since we've collected photos of some of the same homes (it turns out I drove by your friend Holly's house today to snap a picture!) Anyway, do you think dormer windows belong with a craftsman style? I like them...but I'm not sure if they're too country for the look? You seem to have a great sense of style, so I'd appreciate any advice! Thanks!
Hi Mindy,
I stumbled upon your blog when I was googling for Craftsman style exterior paint. I love Craftsman style and I'm building my dream house. Living in Asia, Malaysia to be exact, doesn't stop me from building our dream home. Do visit my blog to see the progress of my Craftsman house.
